Wild life in Istanbul | Faune sauvage à Istanbul

Surprising title? Rest assured! I wasn't in a jungle or anything like that. Not even a trip to the zoo.
My 4 year old is fascinated with planes, cars and trains. So, while
researching for unusual places to check out in Istanbul, I came across
this museum called the Rahmi M. Koç Müzesi.
"It is part of the Rahmi M. Koç Museology and Culture Foundation, is a private non-profit institution dedicated to the collecting, housing, researching, preserving and exhibiting of industrial and engineering objects and their documentation from all countries and periods up to the present day. The Museum shall use its collections and resources to inform, inspire and delight the general public, to attract more visitors to museums as well as cultural activities in Turkey, and to support research into industrial history."
Among the different collections they have, there is the Aviation Collection. Some air-crafts date from WWI and WWII. It was an amazing experience to be surrounded by so much history. Historical museums have this effect on you. This one was particularly colossal, as most of the exhibits where outdoor. It is almost like a park setting where there is a little coffee shop in the middle of the area, where people can meetup, colleagues from work, friends, I even saw a Turkish mom with her toddler just skimming through the different planes. My kiddo wouldn't leave that one private jet... Try getting him to continue the visit!
It was a great day. We later on took kiddo to a playground right next to the museum, which overlooks the Bosphorus river. We then decided to go have lunch at Destan Café, in Ortaköy, by the Bosphorus Bridge.
It is surely one of Istanbul’s loveliest seaside spots. With its narrow cobbled streets, fine food and spectacular location under the Bosphorus Bridge - the first bridge to connect the European side of Istanbul to Asia- going to Ortaköy makes for a lovely day trip with family, especially when the sun is up.
