Galata Tower | Graphic outfit in a historic landmark
11:43:00 AMBeautiful view from the top of the Galata Tower |
It was our last day in Istanbul. During our last year's visit, we didn't have time to check it out. I had no idea it was so close to the hotel we were staying in. We took a taxi. As soon as we got in, it started raining!
It wasn't so bad though. By the time we arrived to Galata Tower, the rain was almost over. Street umbrella sellers were on standby. They must have made a little fortune that day, because no one predicted this weather and everyone was buying an umbrella, including us. We stepped out of the taxi, rushed to the get an umbrella and then we stopped...
The Galata Tower is in the middle of the piazza. Breathtaking! Kiddo got sleepy in that short taxi ride so we went to sit in a coffee shop, right across the tower, just for a little power nap (that lasted less than 30 min)
"The Galata Tower is one of Istanbul's most iconic landmarks, and is one of the oldest towers in the world. With its nine stories and conical roof, it stands at almost 70 metres tall. There are two elevators inside the Tower taking visitors to the top where you can enjoy a great view of the city.
It now houses a café and restaurant on its upper floors offering traditional Ottoman and European cuisine (fixed and à-la-carte menu) and Turkish entertainment, complete with 360º views over the city and water."

I am a little afraid of heights. I don't mind being up there, it is just looking down that gives me the chills! The top of the tower is narrow and you have to walk following a circular path to get the 360 experience. It was a bit crowded, and having kiddo up there with us made a little more nervous. But hubby managed to take some amazing shots. Mesmerizing scenery!
After finishing our tour, we walked down a steep street, filled with
alleys and small stairs.
Hubby spotted this cool stairway,
completely enhanced with graffiti. Time for a mini photo shoot!
